I’m Anna Colquhoun, a Producer / Reporter for TVNZ’s Breakfast show. I’m 23 years old and a born and breed Aucklander.

When I’m not feeling sorry for myself after having woken up at 3:30am every morning, I’m normally out playing netball or hanging with friends.

I’m quite stoked to be running the half marathon on behalf of the Heart Foundation as my Dad has had a few minor heart attacks over the last few years, which means we have all become quite aware of how important diet and exercise are in order to have a healthy heart.

Although I enjoy playing sport, I’m really not much of a runner. So this half marathon is definitely going to be a challenge for me.

A lot of the Breakfast team, who have already done a half marathon, say they are a breeze and that I could even do it with very little training. I find this hard to believe! I have just started my training regime with a measly 5kms and I thought my lungs were going to explode.

I’d be happy if I crossed the finish line in under 2 and a half hours. I’d be ecstatic if I could manage to do it in under 2 hours.

Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That's one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.

So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.
