Event Date: 25/9/2010

Why am I doing this personally? Well my two grandfathers both died of Heart Disease so this cause is very important and dear to me. It can be cured so the more awareness we can bring the better!

It makes you stop and think who is this going to effect next that is dear to you. The Heart Foundation's support and cause they are fighting for is one that impacts us all.

Watch me as my body learns it has muscles again due to not having exercised in a while + the following:

- Claire Turnbull, the Nutritionist for the Healthy Food Guide, off Good Morning and owner of Mission Nutrition Clinic in Newmarket will be giving me 5 tips per week to share with you about Eating Healthy For Your Heart.

- Plus Dragging myself out of bed three times a week at 5am (I live out Piha way and have to get into town ;)) to get knocked into shape and walk funny for a couple of days afterwards.

And more to come so watch this space!

PLEASE MAKE A DONATION TODAY AND SUPPORT THIS CAUSE - CLICK THE 'MAKE A DONATION' BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE :)

CLAIRE TURNBULL: Fourth lot of tips for final week of Boot Camp:

Increasing fibre and whole grains – fibre is great for the heart and can help to lower cholesterol:

• Add a tablespoon of ground LSA (linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds) to your cereal for a fibre boost

• Oats are AMAZING! The humble oat is full of soluble fibre which is proven to help lower your cholesterol. Try porridge, bircher, add extra oats to flaky cereals, baking and mince patties

• Add chickpeas, beans and lentils to dishes. Not only are they rich in fibre, they are a cheap way to bulk out meals!

• Go for the whole grains to pack in the fibre – try swapping white bread for wholegrain bread, white rice for brown rice and white pasta for wholemeal pasta. Easy!

• Try quinoa. It is a high fibre whole grain that has a delicious nutty taste and is very versatile. Use in place of rice, pasta or couscous in main meals or salads

Heart Foundation Information:
Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That's one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.

So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.

I've signed up as a Heart Racer to raise money to support the Heart Foundation. By donating through my webpage you will be helping the Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.

Select the "Make a donation" button below. It's simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation's bank account.

If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.

Many thanks for your support
