Update 29/09/09: I just found out if I am one of the top 10 fundraisers I get a free ipod shuffle. So if I raise enough to be in the top 10 I will draw a sponsor at random who will win the ipod. You will get one entry for every $10 donated.

Howdy!!

To all of you who know me you will appreciate that I'm about as natural a runner as a fish is a cyclist - but I am not one to let little things like that stop me!

So as you can probably ascertain from this webpage I have taken up a challenge for myself. Before I began training in mid-August I had only once ran further than 7kms in one sitting. So from never having run in a competitive race I will have 12 weeks training and then I will run a FULL 42KM MARATHON on the 1st November in Auckland.

"Chris you're crazy!!" I hear you say aloud to your computer monitor. Well the mere fact you've signed on to here implies that you know me so you shouldn't be that surprised (also, you shouldn't be yelling at your computer monitor - people will think that is odd).

So what do I want from you?? MONEY!!! I am running this entirely for myself but if I can raise even a little money for a good cause at the same time then even better. So forget little Jiddateesh in Africa for the moment and give me your charity instead!

Seriously though - give what you can, if you can. I won't give the generic spiel that everyone else has used - basically if your heart stops it is a bad thing and these people try and stop that happening. Plus with the amount of McDonalds and Cadbury's I've seen you eating you might need them one day!

40% of all deaths in New Zealand are cardiovascular related. That's a lot of percent.
