As you may know I ran my first marathon this year in Rotorua and have decided I’d like to take the challenge on again so have registered for the Auckland Marathon on 2nd November this year. (Yep, it’s official, I am nuts!)

I have a particular goal in mind for this and that is to run it in a time of 3 hrs, 38 minutes or better which will gain me entry into New York Marathon next year. I decided to do it the hard way and applied after all NZ’s 60 entry spots were taken. This just means I have to beat my PB (my one, and so far only, Marathon) of 4 hours 5 minutes, by at least 27 minutes! BRING IT ON!

I believe that it is important to give something back to the community and so have signed up to be a Heart Racer for The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand in the Auckland Marathon and you can help me join the race to beat heart disease.

Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease) is one of the leading causes of death in NZ. It contributes to 40 per cent of all deaths in our country, and I would like to help raise money to assist The National Heart Foundation to continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.

I’ll do all the hard work (train 6 times a week and complete the event), and I would really appreciate it if you would help me make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders by sponsoring me.
