Kia ora,
My name is Haidee Renata I'm 25, Maori/European and in May this year my Lipid Count 5.4 (High) results from 02 May 2011.
Since then I have managed to maintain a healthier diet, less alcohol and increased my exercise regime. My Lipids are now down to 4.8 as of 25/September/2011. (Now within normal range)
I still plan on getting it down to 4…
Don't assume yours in ok because you are not overweight.
I have seen people 3x my weight with a much lower result.
Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease.
That's one person every 90 minutes.
Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand.
It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in New Zealand - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.
The lipid profile is a group of tests that are often ordered together to determine risk of coronary heart disease. They are tests that have been shown to be good indicators of whether someone is likely to have a heart attack or stroke.
New research shows that young adults in their 20s and 30s are being admitted to hospital for heart attacks more than ever before, and that this age group is dying at a faster rate than people of the same age in previous generations.
My risk factors can be lowered by increased physical exercise, not smoking, decreasing alcohol and eating well.
So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.
I've signed up as a Heart Racer to raise money to support the Heart Foundation.

I'll be running 21km (over the Harbour Bridge) on the 30th of October 2011.
So, please consider sponsoring me.
Select the "Make a donation" button below. It's simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation's bank account.
If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
