Yup, I'm donning the lycra!

From February 1st - 14th I will be joining a group of cardiologists and health professionals, trading in their white coats for bike pants and beginning an epic cycle ride that will cover the length of New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

I have the enviable task of coordinating this adventure and making sure our dedicated team get from A to B and all the bits in between. On top of that I have been roped into riding a leg or two of the journey with the team (it would be rude not to!).

As you know, I'm no cyclist, so being on my bike for around 7 hours and over 160km is a big ask! It's also a grand challenge to be bitten off and a truly great project that I'm proud to be a part of and support.

Our aim is to boost awareness of heart disease prevention and help raise $1 million for the Heart Foundation's Cardiovascular Research Fund. Every cent we raise will go directly towards an essential chair in new preventive heart health research at the University of Auckland, which will benefit All New Zealanders.

I need your support to complete my mission of fundraising $1,000 myself!

I'll do all the hard work (train for and complete the ride), but I really need you to make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders.
