Many of you will remember that this time last year, my mother suffered a serious heart attack - at a frighteningly young age (which I will not disclose, since I value my own life!!) It's an incredibly hard time, trying to support someone you love so much but being virtually helpless in many ways.

By completing the Adidas Half Marathon as a Heart Racer I hope not only to raise funds for the Heart Foundation but also to get myself back to some semblance of pre-baby fitness, keeping in mind my family's somewhat distressing history of heart disease.

Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in our country - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.

So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.

By donating through my webpage you will be helping the Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.

I'll do all the hard work (train for and complete the event), but I really need you to make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders.
