Three Hearts

Back in 1991 when I was only 55 I was starting to feel like an old man and did not know about Angina and Bypasses.
However on April Fools Day I went by ambulance to Green Lane Hospital. On the 11th April - our Wedding anniversary - I had a Triple By Pass. A nice memory of that morning was a young fellow patient strumming on his guitar "It will be a better day tomorrow".

For the next 13 years I enjoyed a healthy life although I had been told I had a leaky valve.

About 3 years ago I started having Angina attacks and started the journey through The Health System. After many tests false starts etc it was found that my Bypasses where still in good nick and that I needed my Aortic valve replaced.

On the 16th May my life was kick started although there were some complications following my original surgery. However a magic surgeon & his team at Auckland Hospital replaced my aortic valve.

Two months later I was feeling so great I contacted The National Heart Foundation to see if I could do any volunteer work. From this contact the following fundraising event was initiated.

WARKWORTH 5Km WALK

On 8th October 2006 301 people participated and raised $4367 .
This years event will be on 14th October
starting at 11 am.
From Shoesmith Domain in Warkworth

I am organising this event to raise money for the Heart Foundation to help fight heart disease in New Zealand, especially the research, health life style programmes and cardiac rehabilitation programmes. People are invited to sponsor me as I take part in this walk.
