Katherine's return to running

Some of you who have known me for a while know that I have 3 (slow) marathons under my belt. I also have 2 kids, one who's 6 and one who's coming up to 4. Oddly enough as I contemplate my running career it's 6 years since I really ran regularly!

Running's something I like doing, and is good for me. I've decided that I really need to get back into it, and get some regular exercise. It's easier to do if there's an end goal in sight. I've registered for the 1/2 marathon in Auckland in November & training's underway. It's also easier to do if you tell everyone & make it public!

So I decided that to help motivate me, and to do some good for other people at the same time, I'd become a heartracer. Help keep me going by making a donation via my website & all donations go to the New Zealand Heart Foundation.

Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand and new research shows that young adults in their 20s and 30s are being admitted to hospital for heart attacks more than ever before. Much of this change is due to unhealthy lifestyles - poor eating habits, lack of physical activity and being a smoker.
