'Whenever I get the urge to exercise I lie down until it goes away!' Ever heard that before? Well, that's what the magnet on my mirror reads and I read it everyday, without fail. When the opportunity to sign up for Bootcamp (Beat Camp) arised I knew it was time to do a bit more than normal and instantly signed up.
It took two minutes of the RFL test (pre camp fitness test) to realise what a silly mistake that was! It's all things I don't like:
6am starts, drills, rules, runs, push ups and pain!
But in 4 weeks time I know every bit of sweat, pain and tear will be worth it. I'm also hoping that the magnet will soon read 'when ever I get the urge to exercise..I exercise!"

That's one aspect of Beat Camp but wait.. there's a more noble and meaningful side to it too. The ultimate goal of Beat camp is to raise money to support the Heart Foundation fight heart disease. Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That's one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable. Fundraising through Beat Camp will help the Heart Foundation to continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.
