Yes - I ran the full 1/4 marathon - no stopping and felt great. Outward Bound really helped (thanks Kupe watch!) What a fantastic thing to do. I'll be into the next 'something' and looking for what that will be!
Its great to see that funds can be raised through doing something so positive to benefit the Heart Foundation.
Thought I'd better confirm that I'd achieved my goal and actually done the run!!
Cheers all and thank you so much to those who donated.

The Auckland Marathon is a whole new challenge for me! I've just come back from the most fantastic 8 days at Outward Bound, Anakiwa, Marlborough Sounds. Just buzzing and feeling very satisfied with having achieved some wonderful milestones and met some incredible challenges!!
Learnt so much about what I can do, which is a whole lot more than I ever believed!
I decided to enter this Auckland Marathon so that I had a new challenge to meet soon after getting back from Anakiwa. It has been great fun actually. Have run up Mt Eden and around the crater twice in the last week, having never done it in the 17 years I've lived in Mt Eden!!!
The "Heart Racer" option was an easy "click" of the mouse when I registered for the marathon. I have to say though, that I am so grateful that I can just decide to train for and run this event and that I was physically able to get out there and do the Outward Bound experience. So many people can't and apparently each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease.
Here's the blurb from the Heart Foundation - its a great cause, so if you feel able, please sponsor me for Sunday's event (and think of me heading out round the course!!).
That's one person who dies of coronary heart disease every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.
Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in our country - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.
The nature of who is affected by it is changing. New research shows that young adults in their 20s and 30s are being admitted to hospital for heart attacks more than ever before, and that this age group is dying at a faster rate than people of the same age in previous generations. Much of this change is due to unhealthy lifestyles - poor eating habits, lack of physical activity and being a smoker.
But the good news is that many risk factors for heart disease are preventable, if people make healthy lifestyle choices.
So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.
I've signed up as a Heart Racer to raise money to support The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand. By donating through my webpage you will be helping the Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.
I'll do all the hard work (train for and complete the event), but I really need you to make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders.
So, please could you sponsor me?
Select the "Make a donation" button below. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation’s bank account.
If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
So please help me today! And pass it on to your family and friends!
Many thanks for your support
