Me thinking long and hard about running a 1/2 marathon

Every day people die prematurely due to many different causes. Cancer for me is the biggie, afflicting several of my family. Sadly two have died in recent years, my wife Jane at 45 in 2004 and daughter Susie unbelievably at the age of 18 last year.

Heart disease is also a recognised major cause of premature illness and death in New Zealand and I'd like to do my bit to raise a few bucks to help their cause.

Along the way I get to meet some good people who seem to always be fitter and faster than me. So its not all pain and suffering.

However they are reasonably healthy and like me, because of this fitness, should not have any heart problems, reducing the cost burden on the health system.

Anyway the health research teams and those dedicated to healing and caring for sufferers still need money to support them so if possible please help me as I join the Auckland 1/2 marathon to help them.
