The Heart Foundation is a charity that I have regularly donated to and I also buy tickets for the Heart Foundation Lottery, Fingers crossed the Jennian Dream Home will soon be mine, pretty sure I have the winning ticket!

This year, I wanted to do something a little more hands on for charity so I have jumped on board as a Heart Racer to raise funds for the Heart Foundation.

There were a few different events available to enter to raise funds, including the City to Surf & the Adidas Auckland Marathon, Lets be honest, I cant see myself running a marathon anytime soon!

So I have chosen to join the event "The Great Weight of NZ" The objective - Shedding the KGs to raise money for the Heart Foundation and awareness of the NZ obesity epidemic.

My event runs from 01/01/12 - 01/10/12. Thats 37 weeks, and in this time my goal is to shed 40KG's.

Some stats on heart disease:

Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That's one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.

Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in our country - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.

So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease & avoid being one of the statistics!
