Event: The Great Ride for Heart 2010
Event Date: 1/2/2010

In the first two weeks of February I will be joining a group of like minded health professionals on a cycle ride from Cape Rienga to Bluff thats over Two Thousand kilometers!. When Doug Campbell suggested I ride the length of New Zealand instead of Lands End to John O'Groats that was originally my plan. I never thought that by asking my riding buddy Rob to join me on cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff that it would become this wonderful charity event

My aim is to boost awareness of heart disease prevention and help raise $1 million for the Heart Foundation's Cardiovascular Research Fund.
Every cent we raise will go directly towards an essential chair in new preventive heart health research at the University of Auckland, which will benefit All New Zealanders.

As a 50 year old anaesthetist working in Auckland I routinely come across patients with poor cardiac health. I took up road cycling a few years ago in order to keep/get fit. I am really keen to support the heart foundations preventative heart initiative by
training hard and putting my backside on my bike for 13 days.
I need your support to complete my mission of fundraising $10,000 myself!

This is a family effort as apart from working full time, the training takes several hours on the wind Trainer a week, long rides on the weekends and Gym work 3 days a week at Body Tech. My 15 year old daughter hopes to ride one of the legs. My wife and 17 year old daughter will also be fund raising and supporting me through the aches and pains a 50 year old has to go through to take part and complete such an arduous ride.

Please could you sponsor me?

Select the "Make a donation" button below. It's simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation's bank account.

If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.

So please help me today! And pass it on to your family and friends! The future heart health of every New Zealander depends on it

Many thanks for your support
