My awesome support crew!!!

I have wanted to run a marathon since I was a teenager,unfortunatly not long after I discovered alcohol and partying so I couldnt really fit it in with my lifestyle!

As the years past I have sucessfully completed various sporting challenges which have been impressive considering I was a heavy smoker,and since coming to NZ become quite overweight!

At the start of the 2007 I decided I had to make some drastic changes,so the hard work started.The big turning point was 27th May when I stopped smoking.It was around then that I decided I was going to run the Auckland Marathon(what was I thinking of????).A woman who I work with and who I have a great deal of respect and admiration for convinced me that I wasnt ready for the funnyfarm and to go for it(thanks Brenda!)and so here I am.

When I found out that I could raise money for the Heart Foundation by running this marathon I felt it was appropriate after the changes I have made to my own lifestyle.

Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease,thats one person every 90 mins and many of these deaths are premature and preventable.

Cardiovascular disease is the single leading cause of death in NZ.It cause 40%of all deaths annually in this country making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.
