21/9/2007 A month since my last post.
Time is running out - 5 weeks to go. But the training is coming along. A half marathon a couple of weeks ago - not a stellar time, but my best so far at 2:06, so I was quite happy. Running with the YMCA has been helpful, last weekend 27km on Sunday. I'm certainly coping much better than I have, although I'm still whacked out for the rest of the day. Feeling the strain at the moment with all this running, so I've taken a bit of a rest this week. I'm not looking forward to the 32km planned on Sunday

Thanks to everyone for pushing me over $500, and last time I checked I was number 5 in the individuals for fundraising.
26/8/2007 With two short months to go, the task of running a marathon still seems quite daunting. A week skiing, followed by time off for a cold put me back a bit. But I seem to be back on track - out again with the Y this morning we did 28km or so. Long and slow, but that's further than I've ever run before. I have to admit the prospect of another 14km on top of that seems challenging, but with a couple of months to go, I should get there.
24/7/2007 Another few weeks have passed by, and with a bit of a break a couple of weeks ago, I now seem stronger and fitter than ever. I've finally paid up with the YMCA Marathon Club, so you could possibly see me shuffling around the streets of Auckland in a garish yellow shirt, amid a pack of other runners. We did 21km last Sunday, and 22km around the 4 volcanoes the week before. I was fairly tired after the volcano run, but last Sunday i coped much better.

A bit of a break coming up with a week of skiing next week. At the moment I'm hoping for some more snow down there, as it is looking a bit bony.
1/7/2007 A couple of weeks into training now, and the whole thing is beginning to seem achievable. I've been out a few times with the YMCA on Sunday mornings, putting in 2 hour or so runs. That helps me a lot because I doubt I would have the motivation to head out for 2 hours by myself.
