Heart Racer News Update – adidas Auckland Marathon 2009
18 September 2009
Greetings Heart Racers and supporters,
The team here at the Heart Foundation is behind our dedicated Heart Racers 100%.
Each Heart Racer who raises funds for the Heart Foundation allows us to continue our vital work in cardiovascular research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and heart health resources for our communities.
We are thrilled to say that so far 70 Heart Racers have signed up for the 2009 adidas Auckland Marathon event. This means we have potential to live up to our goal of raising $100,000! With your support, achieving this goal is firmly within our grasp.
We hope your enthusiasm for the Heart Foundation 5km walk, Quarter Marathon, half or full Marathon event is motivating you to push yourselves in your training, so that you achieve your personal goal.
We want to extend a big thanks as well to the many Heart Racers who have taken some time to personalise their online profiles, sharing with supporters and the public their motivation for becoming Heart Racers. These stories range from the desire to simply get fit, to those that share a very real first hand experience with heart disease.
All Heart Foundation Heart Racers are united in a common goal - to fundraise for the Heart Foundation and really impact our ability to beat heart disease, together.
The next step is to make sure the Heart Racer word is spreading!
We want you, as our ambassadors, to rally support and get active telling people what you are training for so family, friends and colleagues can support you in the race to beat heart disease.
You know the statistics - cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) is New Zealanders biggest killer, with one in four people dying of the disease every year. Many of these deaths are premature and preventable.
So once again, we thank you for choosing to be part of the challenge to support our efforts to improve heart health for all New Zealanders, you are truly inspirational. Happy training!
The Heart Foundation team.
