** I've been keeping a blog the last few weeks, check it out, bottom right **

I'M ALIVE!
Ran the marathon this morning, feeling a bit tender now but after a nice long bath and a wee nap everything is feeling more like it should.
I suspect that I will be walking in a distinctly suspicious manner for another day or two however.

The run was good, the first half quite conservative and the 2nd half harder, but never bad.
I'll update better later tonight or tomorrow morning.
I'm hungery…

************************************

Thanks for checking out this page.
I figured that if I was going to be crazy enough to run this then I may as well raise some money for a good cause while I'm at it.

This page was supposed to aid in justifying my decision to run a whole marathon, but frankly if I can't sell that line to myself then what chance have I to sell it to anyone else?

Why am I running a marathon?

There's lots of answers to that one, and I'm not sure any of them are wrong.
A: I'm stupid
B: There's nothing like a challenge
c: I'm really stupid
D: It seemed a great idea at the time

So mainly it's for the challenge, and although I've already run a few half marathons this really is a different kettle of fish - kind of that 'same same but different' thing - all this running certainly pushes past my comfort zone.

I hope you enjoy the site and I'd like to thank you for a nominal donation - after all it is for Charity.

After that I hope you can enjoy this run with me, as I check out the best bitumen that Auckland has to offer!

Yeah I also need to find some pics, watch this space…..

Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That’s one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.

Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in our country - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.

The nature of who is affected by it is changing. New research shows that young adults in their 20s and 30s are being admitted to hospital for heart attacks than ever before, and that this age group is dying at a faster rate than people of the same age in previous generations. Much of this change is due to unhealthy lifestyles - poor eating habits, lack of physical activity and being a smoker.

But the good news is that many risk factors for heart disease are preventable, if people make healthy lifestyle choices.

So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.

I’ve signed up as a Heart Racer to raise money to support The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand. By donating through my webpage you will be helping the Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.

I’ll do all the hard work (train for and complete the event), but I really need you to make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders.

So, please could you sponsor me?

Select the "Make a donation" button below. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation’s bank account.

If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.

So please help me today! And pass it on to everyone you know!

Many thanks for your support
