Kia ora!! Nau mai haere mai! Tena koutou katoa!
Hi, Im Megz. In the past year or so, i have started to become involved with charities, like the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) and Homes of Hope. In December, I was looking for a new challenge, so i decided to come on the internet and see what charity events there were that i could participate in. When i saw Half For Heart Tauranga, i thought it sounded like what i was looking for- a challenging new experience, where i can help a well deserving charity. So, i signed up straight away. My mother did not believe that i was actualy going to da a half marathon… as i am not at all a sporty person! But, that very afternoon, i printed out the information, training programme, and started informing everyone! I also managed to persuade 2 of my friends to participate also- Tamara and Mackenzie. I, personaly, think i am doin realy wel, as I have got my first donation, and i have got 2 other people to participate with me, and i also have influenced my younger sister, Kelsey, who often trains with me. As you may have seen, I have set myslef a very high target amount ($2,000)!!! But, i believe, the higher you aim, the more motivated you are, and the better you will do. But unfortunately, now i just have to get A LOT more sponsors. So, if you are reading this, I would very much appreciate it if you could sponsor me, and get your friends and family to sponsor me, and also could you let everyone know my web page address ( http://www.heartracer.org.nz/swtums/) so that they can come and sponsor me. Thanks. Just imagine how big of a difference $2,000 (or more!!) could make on the lives of many New Zealanders?!?!
Now, here is a message from NZ Heart Foundation!!
Each day 16 New Zealanders die as a result of coronary heart disease. That’s one person every 90 minutes. And many of these deaths are premature and preventable.
Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke & blood vessel disease) is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. It causes 40 percent of all deaths annually in our country - making it more deadly than all forms of cancer.
The nature of who is affected by it is changing. New research shows that young adults in their 20s and 30s are being admitted to hospital for heart attacks than ever before, and that this age group is dying at a faster rate than people of the same age in previous generations. Much of this change is due to unhealthy lifestyles - poor eating habits, lack of physical activity and being a smoker.
But the good news is that many risk factors for heart disease are preventable, if people make healthy lifestyle choices.
So, help me as I join the race to beat heart disease.
I’ve signed up as a Heart Racer to raise money to support The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand. By donating through my webpage you will be helping the Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.
I’ll do all the hard work (train for and complete the event), but I really need you to make a difference to the hearts of New Zealanders.
So, please could you sponsor me?
Select the "Make a donation" button below. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes directly to the Heart Foundation’s bank account.
If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
So please help me today! And pass it on to everyone you know!
Many thanks for your support
Much Love, Megz x0x0x
